Chapter 17 completes a Chiastic Structure begun Chapter 13:
The C pair shines a spotlight on this truth: At the place of no water and no bread, there YHVH tested Israel, and there Israel tested YHVH.
Why This Matters: God’s test for Israel (and us): “Do you know the meaning of My name? Redeemer. Deliverer. The One who has it handled.” Our test for Him? Endless complaints. Every murmur is secretly a pop-quiz: “Are You really who You say You are?”
I used to be ruled by discontent, then Torah happened to me. Sabbath rest happened to me. If YHVH is on His throne, and He is, then all that happens to me He has His eye upon. For all that happens to me, He has either planned, or has a plan for deliverance, if I will but rest in Him. Come to find out, our Redeemer-Deliverer takes joy in turning every test into a testimony.
