American homeschoolers have a unique opportunity and obligation to produce, not only Bible- literate, but Constitution- literate graduates. Fortunately the whole family can learn together! Start by reading the founding documents for yourselves, outloud. They aren’t more difficult than the Bible. It would be good to do this every year on Constitution Day, September 17, and seamlessly integrate American history as well.
For families to learn together, and children of all ages, we recommend the Constitution Quest game. It’s a fun way to learn the fundamentals of the Constitution in a non-partisan environment.
For high school students, the college-bound, and any adult needing to fill in the holes of their own education, we cannot recommend more highly the Hillsdale College free online courses on the Constitution. Each course consists of 10 lectures by principled scholars, and accompanying reading assignments. Each completed course counts as 1 semester credit towards a high school History, American history, or Civics requirement.
