Read Psalm 98 at Bible Gateway.
Do you notice that Psalm 98 is a near repeat of Psalm 96?
Psa 96:1-2a, Psa 98:1, Sing to the LORD a new song;
Psa 96:2b-10, Psa 98:203, Proclaim + declare His salvation + glory/ He has made known His salvation;
Psa 96:11a, Psa 98:4-6, Heaven + earth rejoice;
Psa 96:11b-12, Psa 98:7-8, Let the sea roar;
Psa 96:13, Psa 98:9, He is coming to judge the earth with righteousness.
I cannot see an exact repeating element like this, without looking for the chiastic structure.
Psa 96, Sing + rejoice because of His salvation + righteous judgment;
a) Psa 96:1-2a, Sing to the LORD a new song;
b) Psa 96:2b-10, Proclaim + declare His salvation + glory;
c) Psa 96:11a, Heaven + earth rejoice;
d) Psa 96:11b-12, Let the sea roar;
e) Psa 96:13, He is coming to judge the earth with righteousness.
CENTRAL AXIS: Psa 97, The LORD reigns and is most high + exalted above all;
Psa 98, Sing + rejoice because of His salvation + righteous judgment;
a) Psa 98:1, Sing to the LORD a new song;
b) Psa 98:2-3, He has made known His salvation;
c) Psa 98:4-6, Heaven + earth rejoice;
d) Psa 98:7-8, Let the sea roar;
e) Psa 98:9, He is coming to judge the earth with righteousness.
As we get nearer and nearer to His coming, even though things get darker and darker in the world, we have greater and greater reason to sing and rejoice! He is revealing His salvation to all who have ears to hear! No one will stand before Him on the Day of Judgment and be able to accuse Him of unjust judgment, for the witness of His salvation, glory, righteousness and truth is going out to the ends of the earth, so that even the sea, the hills, the trees, and the fields praise Him with all their might!
