The primitive root
Strong’s H7992, sheliyshiy, an adjective, the ordinal of Strong’s H7969 שלוש shalowsh, a primitive number meaning “three.” According to the Ancient Hebrew Lexicon, the 3-letter root is shin + lamed + shin.
shin ש = two front teeth, thus sharp, press, eat, two, again
lamed ל = the shepherd’s staff, thus teach, yoke, to, bind
shin ש = two front teeth, thus sharp, press, eat, two, again
The story: Two (shin) yoked (lamed) to another (second shin), that is, 2 + 1 = 3.
