Perhaps some of you remember 16- year- old Abraham Cherrix, who has cancer. I have blogged about him before here and here. He did not want to undergo chemotherapy, and wanted to use an alternative, nutrition- based treatment instead, with the full support of his parents. He became national news when social services threatened to forceably remove him from his home, forceably strap him to a gurney, and inject him with chemo drugs against his will. Cue the Twilight Zone music …
Today a judge ruled that Abraham can forego chemotherapy, under the care of a doctor who was approved by both Abraham’s family, and social services.
It is a victory for Abraham, in that he won’t have drugs forced on him that he doesn’t want. It is a defeat because he will have social services nosing about and checking up on him every three months until he turns 18. The judge found his parents were NOT medically neglectful, so what business is it of social services? They should have been thrown out on their ear, and told to mind their own business.

Sorry to hear it was not a full win! Glad to hear he will have some say so in his future. Thanks for keeping us updated on this. I hve been praying for him.
