Normally why we homeschool news would be posted on Monday, but this Monday was a holiday, and that backed up my whole week! So here it is on Wednesday.
In the Our Schools Are Not Safe For Children category, we have School Violence (Broken link, active July 6, 2005): If your child’s public school suffered from persistent violence would you really know? Maybe not, according to the June issue of Reason magazine: the problem is school administrators across America are not coming clean about violence in their schools so as not to run afoul of No Child Left Behind. But if you were informed about violence in school, there is still the problem of predatory employees, which public schools are also failing to combat. If your child manages, by God’s providence, to escape bodily harm from classmates and school employees, then there is the problem of local governments allowing convicted [s-x] offenders to live near schools.
After this news, the fact that some schools promote students to the next grade despite getting all Fs on their report cards seems not so bad.
