2 Chronicles 3:1-5:1a Chiastic structure
2 Chronicles 5:4b-14 Chiastic structure
The glory of YHVH descended to fill the house as the singers and musicians were lifting up their praise to YHVH. The cloud that filled the house recalls the cloud which accompanied Israel on their wilderness journey.
And YHVH went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to guide them on the way… and by night in a pillar of fire. Exo 13:21-22
The text suggests that YHVH Himself was in the cloud to guide them, that is, it was a manifestation of His Presence. The Hebrew for ‘cloud’ is Strong’s H6051, anan, and is the same word in Exo 13:22, and throughout Torah, as in 2 Chr 5:14 (see also Exo 14:19-20, Exo 16:10, Exo 19:9, Num 9:15-23).
But throughout Scripture we see a praise – presence link.
David states,
But You are holy, who dwell in the praises of Israel. Psa 22:3
In 1 Sam 10:5-6, Saul encounters a band of prophets with harp, tambourine, flute, and psaltery, and the Spirit of YHVH came upon him so that he prophesied, and was “turned into another man.”
In 2 Chr 20:21-22, King Jehoshaphat appoints singers to praise YHVH, and as they begin, YHVH sets an ambush against Judah’s enemy.
In Act 16:25-26, Paul and Silas, after being thrown into prison for proclaiming Yeshua, pray and sing hymns, and an earthquake opens their prison doors.
The Repetition reveals a progression from praise to presence to power; but regardless of His power manifesting or not,
You will show me the path of life; fullness of joy is in Your presence; at Your right hand is pleasantness forevermore. Psa 16:11
