2 Kin 23:31-24:7 {s+p} strong theme chiastic structure
This section of Scripture highlights that the blessing of the YHVH was no longer on Judah, as she was at the mercy of one foreign conqueror after another.
YHVH will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. Deu 28:7
When a man’s ways please YHVH, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Pro 16:7
Also, isn’t it interesting that the two kings who subjected her, were of Egypt, and Babylon? Both Egypt and Babylon are prophetic types for the kingdom of darkness in Scripture. Judah had already bowed her spiritual knee to that kingdom when she discarded YHVH’s ways and filled the land with idolatry and bloodshed. Now the she was forced to bow her natural knee as well, as fruit follows seed.
The strong theme
Judah’s ways were evil in YHVH’s sight, therefore they were defeated by the nations.
