ESSENTIAL STUDIES
Deuteronomy 5, The Ten Words

The relationship between YHVH and Israel is unlike that of the other nations with its gods. They perform a religious duty, but Israel’s covenant with YHVH flows from the heart. The sign of the covenant—circumcision of the flesh—is merely a Natural Picture of the true characteristic of the covenant: the circumcision (cutting away of the flesh) of the heart. That is the real hallmark of the relationship between Israel and YHVH… and by extension, with us as well.
Psalm 100, Know that YHVH is God

What does it mean to know that YHVH is God? The Hebrew is Strong’s H3045, יָדַע, yadah, meaning, “to know or teach.” The ancient pictographs tell the Hebrew Root Word parable that it is by doing (yud) that we enter into (dalet) knowing or understanding (ayin). What this really means, as that only those who worship YHVH by doing the things He has commanded to do, know that He is God. Others may give mental assent to the fact, but mental assent without corresponding action is no knowledge at all.
2 Corinthians 11, True and false ministers
Additional studies: Corinthians Index
Paul continues to make the contrast between true and false ministers. The Corinthians had let in some among their fellowship who were false ministers, whom Paul goes so far as to identify as ministers of Satan. Jesus warned us that false teachers would come, but that we could recognize them by their fruit (Mat 7:15-20). The Chiastic Structure puts the fruit into stark relief. And in the end, the differences stem from different motivations: the true minister, called and anointed by God, loves the flock with godly love placed there by God, while the false minister loves himself and uses the flock to feed his self- love.
