We started the day having coffee and croissants in downtown Sarasota.
- Our favorite place (so far) downtown.
- This is a stock photo! But a true representation of enjoying coffee at the sidewalk cafe.
- Collecting supplies.
- Kiersten’s apple turnover.
Next, we went to Turtle and Venice beaches for more shell collecting.
- Turtle Beach, famous for sea turtle nesting, of course.
- The path to the sea.
- Dune sunflowers are a common sight.
- I just loved the composition. Carry on …
- The beautiful Gulf of Mexico.
- Off to capture shells!
- Where was Christine while these two were getting doused with seawater? Chilling under the beach umbrella, of course.
- Trying for more shells further down.
We were home by noon for smoking the beef bacon.
- The Weber kettle grill converted to a temporary smoker.
- Dave, the smoke meister.
- Wet apple wood chips + hot coals = smoke! Notice the coals and wood chips are on one side, and the brisket on the other. Indirect heat.
- There it is – 10 pounds of finished, delicious beef bacon!
After a supper of Dave’s famous spaghetti with homemade Italian sausage, we played Sets as has been our habit. Goodnight!
- The devastating hand that ended the Miller’s dreams of domination.
- She smoked us again!
