1/2 c butter
1/2 c evaporated milk or cream
1/8 tsp salt
1-1/2 c bittersweet or semisweet or milk or white chocolate chips
4 c powdered sugar
Combine butter, milk, and salt in a heavy saucepan, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until butter is melted. Remove from heat. Add chocolate chips and beat until smooth. Cool. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until thick. Makes enough to frost one two-layer cake.

Use milk or white chocolate chips in place of semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips.
