I was thinking again this morning and praying for a homeschooling
family I know with a rebellious teen, who has walked away from the
Lord. In the natural things look worse and worse every week. Someone
asked me a few weeks ago, “We have been praying for a long time for
this family. Why isn’t the Lord doing anything?”
Qualification: by what
we can see in the natural, it doesn’t appear as if the Lord is doing
anything. But, our natural eyes only give us a very limited slice of
the whole picture. We can’t see everything that is happening. Also,
God’s word promises that God is always working in the lives of His
children, and in the affairs of men. So we know both the premise (we
don’t see anything happening) is flawed, and the conclusion (therefore
God must not be doing anything) is flawed.
I was thinking of Matthew
12:29 today while I was praying:
“Or how can anyone enter the strong
man’s house and carry off his
property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will
plunder his house.”
Jesus was speaking of casting out demons, but His
statement is also a universal principle. In our families, the fathers
are the strong men. They have the authority over their households:
their property, wives, and children, in the natural and the spiritual
realms. This specific family has been
plundered, no question about it. The thief is the enemy, who comes
to steal, kill, and destroy. The strong man, the father, for whatever
reason, has been bound, and his household has been plundered as a
result.
Therefore I see the feminization of American men as a much more
insidious attack of the enemy than a cute but misguided liberal idea.
Binding America’s strong men has resulted in the a whole generation of
children left open to predation by our godless culture and much worse.
I have been praying for the rebellious teen. From now on I am going to
be praying for the father to be set free from his bonds.
