The worst thing about holidays and Sabbaths is dealing with the dripped wax from burning two, seven, or nine candles, depending on the holiday. Wax, melted into my fine linens … hardened on to my pristine heirloom furniture. Stuck on to my beautiful candle holders.
I have finally solved the melted candle wax problem!
I have learned over the years, to use only crystal, glass, or china candle holders. After the holiday, I put them in an ice water bath in my kitchen sink for 20 or 30 minutes. The wax just lifts off of the glass or crystal surface, once it gets cold enough. Then the candle holders go in the dishwasher (if they are dishwasher safe) and come out absolutely pristine.
I have also learned to place the candle holders on a crystal, glass, or china tray. The dripped wax collects on the tray, and never a molecule of wax touches my fine linens or good furniture, ever again. The tray goes into the ice water bath with the candle holders, the wax lifts off, and then it also goes into the dishwasher. Voila! Everything is pristine and sparkling for the next holiday with very little effort, even if the next holiday is that night!
