I have had an swollen eye for several weeks, and on Thursday Dave and I went to Urgent Care to have what I thought was a sty lanced. Two eye doctors later I was at the ER with a severe eye infection.
It turns out it was a staph infection. They admitted me and I have been in the hospital since.
They are treating the infection. I have also been diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension. I probably won’t go home before Monday at the earliest, it all depends on the eye infection. I will keep you updated.
UPDATE: Tuesday, and still here. They are giving me an IV antibiotic that takes 4 hours. It is 6K for one dose, so the hospital had to get a special waiver from the manufacturer to give it to me, since I am a non-paying customer lol. But it lasts in the system for 2 weeks afterward, so I won’t have to take an oral antibiotic when I go home.
UPDATE: I was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. They sent me home with a slew of prescriptions, which I am learning, and researching, so that I can successfully get off of them. My arms are black and blue from the blood draws, IV ports, failed IV ports, and constant blood pressure monitoring. I am weak as a kitten though, so I am resting and trying to recover my strength. I cannot open my eye yet, and the doc said it would take time.
Dave has been so wonderful through this unexpected drama. He visited me every day at the hospital, and is taking such good care of me at home. ❤️
Thank you so very much for the beautiful flowers Don! Those lilies are filling the house with such a lovely fragrance!
