I spent yesterday planning the next few days of the detox – until the fast day – and today shopping for the things I needed for the next phase of the plan. It is impossible, for me at least, to shop for the whole eleven day detox at once. There is SO MUCH fresh produce involved, that there is no way it would all fit in my fridge and keep without going bad. So I do about four days at a time.
Here is today’s menu:
breakfast: oatmeal, our old standby, with 1 grated apple.
check off 1 of 2 daily high fiber.
snack: strawberry yogurt smoothie. Sarah discovered that you can freeze this, then take it out of the freezer and let it thaw for a while, and eat it like ice cream. Yum!
check off 2 of 2 daily high fiber.
lunch: 6 oz lemon chicken (I am posting my recipe as soon as I can) sliced onto a salad of 1 c baby lettuces + 1 c beet greens + 1 c broccoli slaw. Drizzle with homemade ranch dressing made with homemade mayonnaise.
check off 6 oz daily protein, daily dark green leafies, daily crucifers, and daily citrus.
snack: 2 stalks celery with guacamole (Sarah) or leftover cream of celery soup (me).
check off daily liver healing and daily omega 3 rich fat.
supper: spaghetti with italian meatsauce. Dad will have regular spaghetti noodles and Sarah and I will have brown rice linguini noodles. I have roasted a head of garlic, and will mash it into a stick of butter. If there are 8 cloves of garlic per head (a common amount) then each T of butter will contain 1 clove of garlic – if I incorporate it thoroughly. Now most of this garlic butter is going on french bread to be toasted under the broiler for Dad to have with his spaghetti. But I am tossing mine and Sarah’s linguine with 1 T each of this butter before putting on the meatsauce. We are not having garlic bread tonight.
check off 2 oz protein and daily sulfer rich.
