The Hebrew Paragraph:
9:1-29 {p} Israel cannot enter the Land by self-righteousness
Deu 9:1-29 Chiastic Structure (and expanded Chiastic Structure pdf):
Perhaps you have heard that Moses, or the Law, or the Old (Hebrew) Testament, preaches salvation by works of obedience to the Law, while Yeshua and the New Testament preaches salvation by faith through grace. We are reading Moses for ourselves, and it turns out, he is saying the exact opposite, as this chapter reiterates. He is preaching the gospel of grace by faith, which is preached without change from Genesis to Revelation. Israel is not entering the Land (inheriting her promise, a Prophetic Type for salvation) from YHVH because of her self-righteousness, Moses is taking careful pains to point out. In order to dispel the notion that Israel somehow earned her promise by works, he makes a recitation of all her rebellions against YHVH (Deu 9:6-24; this is the Chiastic Structure) which takes up most of this paragraph. The New (Greek) Testament says that those who did not enter in, did not enter in because of unbelief, which is lack of faith (Heb 3:19). Again, the gospel of grace.
