The Chiastic Structure I have been able to uncover for Deuteronomy does not follow neat parashah divisions as the other chiasms for the books of Torah do; although, there may be another structure for Deuteronomy besides this one, to be uncovered at some point in the future.
The theme of the book I am seeing, is Repentance, and Return. Israel’s repentance and return is overtly stated in the conclusion, but if we think about it a little bit, it is also covertly stated in the introduction. When Deuteronomy first opens, Israel is once more at the border of the Promised Land, just as they were thirty-eight years earlier when the twelve spies were sent out (Num 13). Thirty-eight years earlier, they had an opportunity to enter the Land, but they disobeyed the Word of YHVH, and did not enter in. They suffered the consequence of disobedience, that is, wilderness wandering, and repented, and returned, which is where we find them at the opening of the book.
