The Chiastic structure:
We sit in the heavenly places with Messiah (Eph 2:6), we walk as wise men, understanding what the will of YHVH is (Eph 5:15-17). Then we have to stand in our place of authority and stand against the schemes and fiery darts of the devil. There is going to be a fight, a spiritual battle, even after we sit and walk. And our part in that spiritual battle is to stand firm and not give ground to the enemy in any area.
To stand is in Greek, Strong’s G2476, ἵστημι hístēmi, “to stand.” Tracing back through the Septuagint to the Hebrew, the word is Strong’s H5975, עמד amad, “to stand.” The ancient pictographs are ayin + mem + dalet.
ayin ע = eye (watch, know, shade)
mem מ, ם = water (chaos, mighty, blood)
dalet ד = door (enter, move, hang)
The Hebrew Root Word parable is of looking out (ayin) over a mighty body (mem, like a mighty sea; thus also people, as of many people amassed as a mighty sea). Therefore a mighty people (ayin + mem) like an upright frame (dalet, upon which the door curtain hangs), i.e. standing upright, often with the meaning of standing for something, or standing your ground.
It means, when the enemy or our circumstances lie a lie to us which flies in the face of the Word of God, we stand up and affirm the truth; we do not lie down and let the lie walk over us.
