What comforts me about these chapters, is first of all, Abraham loved God and kept His commandments, statues, charge, and torah (Gen 26:5). Isaac loved God, and walked in the way of his father Abraham. But they both made mistakes. God did not tell Abraham to take Hagar for a wife. God did not tell Isaac to prefer Esau over Jacob. And yet, in spite of their mistakes, God still worked out His plan and purpose for their children, and still brought His promises to pass. It gives me hope for my own family.

While in English we think of two different actions for seeking, and crying out, in Hebrew they are very similar, and both carry the idea of diligent seeking. Thus, for those who diligently seek Him, entering into His door again and again, to often look for Him and visit Him, when trouble arises in their lives and they cry out to Him because of it, He delivers them and draws them out of all their troubles.

The disciples ask Yeshua three separate questions, and He gives them three separate answers. It helps to know what the questions are, and what the answers are, so that we can understand what is being said. We shouldn’t assume that the questions and answers refer to the same event. (Keep reading …)
