The Hebrew paragraphs:
46:28-47:31 {p} Joseph the provider
The last Strong Theme we have read in Genesis ended at Gen 40:23, with the chief cupbearer of Pharaoh forgetting about Joseph when he was restored to his postion. Gen 41:1, Pharaoh’s dreams, began a new Strong Theme, which had no end in sight until today.
41:1-44:17 {s} Joseph the overseer
44:18-46:7 {s} Joseph revealed to his brothers and father
46:8-27 {s} Seventy persons of Israel went down to Egypt
46:28-47:31 {p} Joseph the provider
The Strong Theme from Gen 41:1 to Gen 47:31 covers the entire narrative, so far, of Joseph’s position in Egypt as overseer. The big picture reveals that Joseph was indeed cast down in the will of God, to be brought up in the will of God, to preserve the life of Israel.
But notice something else, that the Teaching Tool of Learning from the Narrative brings to light. In the process of preserving Israel, everyone else gets preserved too! The blessing of Abraham indeed reaches to all the families of the earth. When we consider that this narrative of Joseph as overseer and provider is the prophetic type of Messiah’s second coming in glory as ruler of all, what a wonderful future awaits Israel and everyone else!
Gen 41:1-47:31 {sx3+p} Strong Theme: Joseph the overseer and provider, revealed to his brothers and father, who live under his care
