This hurricane is being projected to make landfall at our county, Sarasota County, early Thursday morning. We have evacuated, I have tried to schedule as much in advance as I possibly can. But if the posts dry up, it means we lost power and internet, and are waiting to have it restored. If you are so inclined, please say a prayer for us, and for all in the path of this storm. OCTOBER 13 UPDATE: Even though Milton made landfall at our county, Sarasota County, the hurricane lost strength as it made landfall and the eye began to collapse. We did go through the eye, the eerie quiet lasted for about an hour, and the Cat 3 winds were very damaging to our city and county, however, everything was NOT destroyed in its path, as they had been projecting, and we did NOT get 15 feet of storm surge. Mark my words, the barrier islands and the houses and businesses on them suffered, and some people did lose their lives. But I believe everyone who heeded the warning to evacuate, and did evacuate, survived.
The siding was peeled off the back of our house. That was the extent of the damage; the reinforcing my husband did due to Hurricanes Irma and Ian served us in good stead, and the Father answered our prayers and the prayers of so many around the country and the world. We lost power and do not yet have it restored, but nearly 100% of Sarasota County lost power, and the crews are working round the clock to restore it. In the mean time, we are staying at our son’s house, who did have power restored by Saturday evening. This week while we wait for our power, I am working on basic daily posts on my laptop from my son’s house.
