… when the worst thing schools did was monkey with the math curriculum. More and more, the news reports coming out of schools are less about failing academics (that still applies) and more about children becoming victims of [s-x]ual abuse while there. Stories in the news just from today:
Boys, 6, abuse 5-year-old girls (Broken link, active July 7, 2006)
Ex-Michigan band teacher admits to [s-x]
These stories used to come up once every few months or so. Now it seems a new one shows up every week, or even daily. I used to post them here, in the why we homeschool category, and then quit, because it seems that was all I was ever posting. In these stories, the people are different, the places are different, but the plots are all the same: teachers (or administrators, or teacher’s aides, or coaches, etc.) abuse children; or abuse occurs in school between students. Perhaps community schools were a good idea at one point in our history when everyone held a biblical worldview, but now, community schools amount to convenient holding pens of vulnerable children so the [s-x]ual predators don’t have to work so hard to find their next victim.
