The theme of the book, is the Promised Seed Prophesied. Not only is the central axis of the structure, the birth of Isaac, the Promised Seed (2nd structure), but Isaac’s life prophesies of the first advent of Messiah the Promised Seed as the suffering servant, in that he was offered up by his father as a sacrifice; and Joseph’s life prophesies of the second advent of Messiah the Promised Seed as the returning Ruler, in that he was promoted to govern over all Egypt in order to save life (1st structure).

Who were the sons of God, when Scripture tells us that God has only one begotten Son? First we must recognize that the Hebrew which is always translated, “God,” the true God, Strong’s H430 elohiym, is also used in Scripture to mean, “false gods,” “angels,” “judges,” and “rulers.” The full study into elohiym is posted here. It doesn’t matter how many are against us, when YHVH is for us. No matter how many are arrayed against me, I don’t have to lift up myself against them, YHVH will lift up my head. I do not have to strike anyone’s cheekbones or break anyone’s teeth, in my own defense. If any striking or breaking needs to be done, I can trust YHVH to take care of it.
