Genesis 17, The heir of Abraham

YHVH’s covenant with Abraham: it would be passed down to his heir, more valuable than land or wealth. The Gen 14:1-17:27 Strong theme teaches that the promised seed, Sarah’s son, will be Abraham’s heir who would inherit the covenant, not the seed of his father’s house (Lot, Gen 14) nor the seed of his own house (Eliezer, Gen 15) nor the seed of his flesh (Ishmael, Gen 16). As it had ceased to be the way of women with Sarah (Gen 16:1-2), it was humanly impossible for her to bear children, thus the laughter. Her son would be of miraculous birth, and this History Prophesies that the Promised Seed of Gen 3:15, who is Messiah Yeshua, would likewise be of miraculous birth.

When I am tired and worn out in heart, and I really need the Father to give me His strength, this psalm is giving me a key to accomplish that. Give YHVH glory and strength! In other words, open my mouth, and praise Him. Tell Him all the wonderful things that are right about Him! Turn my focus and adjust my perspective, from looking at my life and situations, and look at Him. Give YHVH the glory due to His name! Worship Him in the beauty of holiness!
Matthew 21, The professionals’ rejection of Jesus
Additional studies: Matthew Index
Why did the religious professionals, who were supposed to be versed in these matters, not recognize or receive Yeshua as the promised Messiah, the Son of David, as the common people did? 1) The fear of man. Anyone proclaiming a King of the line of David in Jerusalem, David’s capital city, would put themselves in the crosshairs of Rome. 2) Pride. They were the religious professionals, after all, and some lowly nobody from the backwater of Nazareth was showing them up. 3) And even though Torah proclaims it, they did not know that Messiah would come first as the suffering servant, then second as the reigning King. When His earthly kingdom did not materialize, they considered Him a fraud.
