Joh 14:1-31 Chiastic Structure:
Jesus makes an amazing statement in this chapter:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, but by Me.” Joh 14:6
If no man comes to the Father, who is God, but by Him, then all those claims of a way to God without Him, are false, if He is telling the truth. Mohammed, Buddha; every alternate way, cannot lead to the Father. They may lead to a system of religious obligations trying to attain the approval of a distant or impersonal Cosmic Being, but they will not lead to salvation, or a dynamic, present, personal relationship of love between Father and child. All those other ways will not lead to being born again into the family of God.
Now here is a question to ask: Is Jesus telling the truth, or not? If He is not telling the truth, then He must either be a liar, or a lunatic. If He is a liar, He would be evil, as satan is evil. If He is a lunatic, then He is not worth listening to. But, as He tells Philip,
“The words that I speak to you I do not speak from Myself; but the Father who dwells in Me, He does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me; or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.” Joh 14:10-11
His works are His witness. Are His works the works of a liar, or a lunatic? If not, then He must be telling the truth. It is the only option left.
