1/3 bar Fels Naptha laundry soap bar, grated
1/2 c washing soda (sodium carbonate)
1/2 c borax (sodium borate)
6 c distilled water
4 c distilled water, hot
1 gallon + 6 c distilled water
2 gallon bucket with tight-fitting lid
Put the grated soap in your soap-making stainless steel pot. Add the 6 c distilled water and heat until the soap melts. This will take a little time over low heat. Add the washing soda and borax and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour the 4 c of hot distilled water into your laundry soap bucket. Add your soap mixture and stir. Add the 1 gallon + 6 c distilled water and stir. Lid your bucket and let your soap sit overnight. It will gel. Use 1/2 c soap per load of laundry. Makes 2 gallons, or enough for 64 loads of laundry.
