Luke 6 corresponds to Mat 5-7, the Sermon on the Mount. Isn’t it interesting, that the Pharisees were so hung up on whether Jesus conformed to their interpretation of Sabbath keeping, that they completely missed the fact that Jesus healed a man’s withered hand! For people whose hearts are closed to the LORD God, even witnessing miracles with their own eyes will not move them.
And don’t expect to find the enemies of God only among atheists and satanists – the Pharisees were church leaders. Even the antichrist will come out of the church (1 Joh 2:18-19).
All those who came to Him, were healed. Not one was left out. Surely there had to be a couple of sinners and reprobates in the crowd.
Jesus commanded us to not ask for our goods back when they are taken from us. Beloved, do we take this to heart, or do we do what the world does because everyone else does it? When we moved to Florida, all in one month’s time, we had $1000 stolen from us by a disreputable landlord; all our heirloom furniture irreparably damaged by movers; and our claim denied because one of the movers lied under oath. Who was a brother in the LORD! Every Christian we knew counseled us to sue to get our money and goods back.
Surely this is an indictment against the church! We chose to listen to the sayings of Jesus, and do them, instead (Luk 6:47), and forgave everyone of everything. Truly life is not about what material possessions we can accumulate to live a comfortable life on this side of Messiah’s kingdom! I would much rather have my household (family) founded upon the rock, able to withstand the storms of life!
