Leviticus 11, Uncleanness is not ceremonial
Additional studies: Leviticus Index
Applying its Common Theme Scriptural usage: Leviticus 11, the distinction between clean and unclean animals isn’t merely ceremonial. Unclean animals pollute the body when eaten. … God, being smarter than we are, gave instructions that protect from pollution, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Psalm 71, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Two: Psalms 42-72 Index
The chiasm: When my enemies speak against me, that God has forsaken me, I will praise You more and more, and declare Your righteousness and Your salvation. What sound warfare strategy, when the enemy starts running his mouth!
1 Corinthians 6, Giving, not grasping
Additional studies: Corinthians Index
The hearts of the patriarchs were giving, not grasping. They understood the nature of YHVH, that He who had pronounced the blessing over them was giving and not grasping. They believed they could afford to be a blessing, because they had already been blessed by God. Abraham was generous with Lot before he had amassed his riches. He was generous with the king of Sodom when he was just beginning to prosper. So his giving heart did not rest on the fact that he already had plenty and to spare. It was his nature from the beginning.
