Numbers 11, What will be sufficient
Additional studies: Numbers Index
In the central axis, which is the key point of the passage, Moses asks an interesting question: What will be sufficient for them? What will be enough for them? The children of Israel were not satisfied with the manna God had been giving them, and cried for something more. Moses confirmed that their problem was dissatisfaction, so we learn that dissatisfaction drives complaints.
Psalm 85, Reverse parallelism
Additional studies: Psalms Book Three (73-89) Index
This psalm celebrates the end of YHVH’s wrath, and the coming of His forgiveness, mercy, and salvation. Notice that mercy and truth have met together, and righteousness and peace have kissed! Mercy and peace are not the opposites of righteousness and truth, but sisters. The fruit of mercy wholly and truly received, is in fact righteousness!
The Book of 1 Corinthians Chiastic Structure
Additional studies: Corinthians Index
When Paul wrote the letter to the Corinthians, he did not plan this elegant, whole book structure first, and then write the letter to fit it. Paul listened to the Spirit and wrote his reply. That Paul’s reply forms this mass of structures, nesting, lesser and greater, marks his reply as the Spirit’s Word. The Chiastic structure is one of the thumbprints of the Spirit on His Word. There are believers who reject Paul and his letters because they misunderstand his message. The Spirit’s thumbprint on his letters is evidence that he is to be accepted.
