Essential Studies.
Numbers 20, The Uncompromising Gospel
Additional studies: Numbers Index
This is the Gospel. We enter the promise of salvation and life everlasting, by faith, and not by any other way. Lack of faith, or unbelief, cannot inherit the promise. Because Moses did not believe, he also cannot enter the Promised Land. God is not being harsh. He is prophetically preaching the gospel of grace uncompromisingly from Torah for our sakes!
Psalm 89, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Psalms Book Three (73-89) Index
It is very true that God will not break His covenant, nor alter the word that has come out of His lips. If what you see with your eyes does not line up with God’s promise, it is because God is not yet finished bringing His promise about! The end of the story is not yet. If we ascribe unfaithfulness to God, it is because we have established our own timetable and expectations on how and when His promise is to play out. Our judgment of God’s unfaithfulness is never just! ♥
2 Corinthians 2, The fragrance of Christ
Additional studies: Corinthians Index
Isn’t this the most amazing thing? We smell like someone, whether we are trying or not trying, as we go about our daily business in the world. We diffuse the fragrance of Christ to all those around us. Now there are two kinds of people in the world who notice our aroma: those who are being saved, and those who are perishing. These two kinds of people both smell the same aroma about us – the fragrance of Christ. But to one it is a pleasant, attractive smell, and to the other it is a repulsive, foul smell.
