Yeshua was crucified on the exact day all Jerusalem was celebrating Passover; He breathed His last at the exact hour the priests were slaughtering the Passover lambs at the temple. The Passover Israel experienced as slaves in Egypt, delivering them from bondage to Egypt and setting them free, is History that Prophesies of Yeshua, our Passover Lamb, and His shed blood which delivers us from bondage to sin, death, and all the power of the devil, setting us free to live for God.
Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Messiah, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 1 Cor 5:7
Mat 27:1-66 makes a Chiastic Structure:
The central axis is not what I would have expected. The blood of Yeshua is upon us, that is, we are responsible and bear the guilt for His death. It is not just the residents of Jerusalem in the 1st century who put Him to death. Every human being who has ever lived has put Him to death. Thus the blood guilt for Yeshua is upon us, and His blood for the atoning of that guilt is upon us.
And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 1 Joh 2:2
And not upon us only, but also upon our children. This is not the first or last place in Scripture, where it is implied that His salvation is for households also and not individuals only. For example, the blood of the Passover lamb was applied to the doorposts of the house by the father, and all who were within it, the entire household, were saved from the Angel of Death.
