Now why would dwelling in the wilderness many days, be the central axis of all the history recorded in Torah, which Joshua summarizes in this paragraph?
It is speaking prophetically of our own sojourn in this wilderness of time, of many days, even many generations, between the two comings of Messiah Yeshua. We were brought out of the land of Egypt, prophetically standing in for the kingdom of darkness, in the first coming of Messiah Yeshua. He was crucified on the cross, our Passover Lamb, who takes away the sins of the world (Joh 1:29). Moses, we saw, is a Messiah type, who prophesies of this deliverance.
And when He returns in His second coming, He will bring us into the Land of Promise which He has promised us. Joshua, we saw, is a Messiah type, who prophesies of His victory over His enemies.
We are sojourners in between two lands. And the time of our sojourn is drawing to a close!
