Dad and I, that is! Here is the story:
In June, there were some nice double-wides that were selling in Grandma and Grandpa Miller’s retirement park for insanely cheap. They bought one for $1700, two bedrooms, two baths and an enclosed patio the full width of the home. They bought it, because the hallways and doorways were wider (it was a newer home than the one they were living in) and they thought they would move there, so it would be easier for Grandma to get around in her wheelchair.
So at the time, I told Grandpa to keep his eyes peeled, because if another place came available for $1700 or $2000 or whatever ridiculously cheap price, we would buy one. Our lease at our house is up Nov 9, and so when Matt first asked Sarah to marry him, back in June, I told them, well, whatever date you decide on, we might be moving when our lease is up to Grandma and Grandpa’s retirement park, so you don’t have to be married by November, but Sarah might have to move by November, POSSIBLY, just something to keep in mind.
So they decided to set their date for before Nov, thus Oct 15, and then Matt found a nice 2 bedroom house for $450/month, after he had not gotten, time and again, way more expensive places. Wow, this seemed like God was in the Oct 15 wedding date! He was helping them! But then, it looked like the season for cheap homes at Grandma and Grandpa’s retirement park was over, as the summer progressed, so we just made plans to stay here. Oh well, we thought, Sarah would not have had to move after all, but the wedding date was already set, and they had plenty of money, so it seemed like it all worked out.
So Dad has been working on this double wide all summer as he has been able, to get it ready for them to move into. It already has a new roof and new appliances, new central air and heat, and Dad has put in a new floor, new baseboards, stripped wallpaper, drywalled, painted, and is planning to enclose the patio, so that it will be more like our sunroom at our house. Completely enclosed with windows.
Then the wedding came, then Grandma decided now that the new house was almost done, that she did NOT want to move, no way, no how. This year has just been so hard on her, and all the changes, it is too much. She wants to stay in her own home that she is used to.
So … they asked us if we wanted the double wide, as soon as the wedding was over and our company went home. Wow, what a blessing, we would save about $700/ month in living costs! So it is short notice, but we decided to do it. It is a 55 retirement park, and Dave is only 52, but all of our children are now moved out of the house (LOL) and so the park owner approved us of moving there.
SO! I have two weeks to pack and move! We can do it! The money we save will help us be able to come to Colorado more often to see everyone!
(Michelle M. Commented: “I am so gald you are able to move into the home we bought for Mom and Dad. When Mom said she wouldn’t move we were at a loss ,Bill was so upset. It will be wonderful for all of us to have you living there. We didn’t know how we were going to pay the lot rent, even though we paid cash for the home. You are a life saver and I hope you will be comfortable in our home …… PS. We get to sleep there when we come to visit Right?????????”)
