Kiersten had to delay her trip out here a few weeks unfortunately. When she visits we will have scads of pictures every day of our adventures.
Even though we work long hours Monday through Friday, we occasionally find a little pocket of time here or there to sneak off for a few minutes lol. We had a wonderfully cool morning today, and we took advantage to start our day with coffee at Postal 98 Cafe a few blocks from our neighborhood.
Then our flowers have been taking off, and I wanted to share with you:
1. Orchids. Our next orchid will be a vanilla bean orchid. Did you know the vanilla bean seedpods from the gourmet spice section of the store are from orchids? We have been looking around, and they are insanely expensive from the garden centers. So we are still looking …
2. Some variation of Wandering Jew that makes a fabulous ground cover under our palm tree.
3. Vinca. Hardy sun or shade, drought or wet. Perfect!
4. This red calla lily was originally from flowers at Mom’s funeral. Dad, and us, have been growing them since.
5 and 6. Begonia, and a closeup.
7. One of my hibiscus. I have 4 different ones now, I think. They are making a nice hedgerow screening our carport from the rest of the yard.
8. Our pineapples are coming along …
