My second Dad has been in Florida this month visiting his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Lisa. We haven’t seen Don for two years. The last time we were in Colorado, for Jamie’s first birthday, was in April of 2019. Our plan was to visit next in summer of 2020, but, the best laid plans. First Covid and then Dave’s heart attack. We thought that Dave’s heart docs might clear him for travel to Colorado at his one year appointment, but not yet. It’s not that he is doing any worse. It’s just the risk with his specific condition, for a sudden transition to the high altitude, is still too great at the moment. So we will try again in the fall.
So, we haven’t seen Don for two years. It happens that Bruce and Lisa are recent Florida transplants. They moved to St. Petersburg in October. They are Lutheran pastors, and accepted the call from the Lutheran Church of the Cross in St. Petersburg. They were just a hop, skip, and a jump away, but we hadn’t seen them either since their move. They had so much on their plate not only unpacking in their new home, but getting established at their new church.
All that is to say, we finally got to see everyone. We spent the day in St. Petersburg with Bruce, Lisa, and Don. We caught up visiting at their beautiful home, and had a lovely lunch on the St. Petersburg Pier. Then Bruce and Lisa took us back to the church, and we got the grand tour. It is a beautiful facility, just beautiful. I didn’t even take a single picture of the family (Why? I can only assume that since I hadn’t solved the problem yet of hiding the Florida posts on the website, pictures were completely off my radar). But when I saw the stained glass windows, my jaw dropped. I got pictures!
These aren’t even all of them. The next time we are back there I will get more. And pictures of Bruce and Lisa.
It was a beautiful day with wonderful people!
