God is perfected in His love for us. The rest of the verse says,
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” 1 Joh 4:18
God does not have torment or punishment ordained for His children whom He loves. I have been asking for God’s love to cast fear from me. I have been learning that when the feeling of fear (or any of its relatives: worry, nervousness, anxiety, etc.) comes up in me, to mentally take that feeling by the throat and tell it to depart from me because God loves me with perfect love … therefore I have nothing to be afraid of. I tell myself this verse and others that reinforces that truth. I am refusing to agree with fear, and instead agreeing with the truth of God’s word over my life. All I am doing, really, is taking every thought (and feeling) captive, to make it obey Christ (who is the word of God, 2 Cor 10:5, Joh 1:1,14). ♥
