Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
Who delights greatly in His commandments. Psa 112:1
How does someone know that they fear the LORD, which is a good and desirable thing, the beginning of being wise (Pro 1:7)? The man who fears the LORD will delight greatly in His commandments. To delight in His commandments, is to put them into practice in one’s life. All the blessings which follow, which this psalm describes, come upon this man because he orders his life according to the LORD’s commandments.
The man who fears the LORD, and who delights greatly in His commandments, also has a steadfast heart which trusts in the LORD. His heart is fixed, it actually says in the KJV. On what is his heart fixed? I believe his heart is fixed in love on the Lord his God and on His words which he keeps in his heart.
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. Deu 6:5-6
Obedience to commandments does not to earn salvation for us through works. But we ought not to discount obedience altogether as the modern church tends to do, just because we cannot earn salvation by it. Blessings for this life follow us, when we obey His commandments!
