Praise YHVH, all you Gentiles!
Laud Him, all you peoples!
For His merciful kindness is great toward us,
And the truth of YHVH endures forever.
Praise YHVH!
Merciful kindness. Strong’s H2617, checed, a concrete noun meaning, “mercy;” from Strong’s H2616, chasad, a primitive root meaning, “to show oneself gracious.”
Great. Strong’s H1396, gabar, a primitive root meaning, “to prevail.”
Don’t you love that the Father’s mercy prevails over us as a mighty man too strong for us? All our resisting of it is in vain.
Truth. Strong’s H571, emeth, a concrete noun meaning, “truth” (as in, that which is firm or faithful), from Strong’s H539, aman, a primitive root meaning, “to believe.”
“Endures” is not in the Hebrew, but, “The truth of YHVH is forever.”
Forever. Strong’s H5769, olam, an abstract concept meaning, “eternal,” from Strong’s H5956, alam, a primitive root meaning, “to hide, to conceal.”
The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon puts it this way: Hidden, because it is beyond the bounds of time or space. It puts me in mind of:
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Cor 2:9
