1a) Psa 132:1, Lord, remember David and all his afflictions;
1b) Psa 132:2-10, David’s vow to the LORD:
1) Psa 132:2-8, A dwelling place, a resting place;
2 How he swore to the Lord, And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 “Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, Or go up to the comfort of my bed;
4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids;
5 Until I find a place for the Lord, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; We found it in the fields of the woods;
7 Let us go into His tabernacle; Let us worship at His footstool;
8 Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.
2) Psa 132:9, Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let Your saints shout for joy;
3) Psa 132:10, For Your servant David’s sake, do not turn away the face of Your Anointed;
1c) Psa 132:11, I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body;
11a The Lord has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it: {n}
11b “I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body;
central axis) Psa 132:12a, If your sons will keep My covenant and My testimony which I shall teach them; {n}
2c) Psa 132:12b, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore;”
2b) Psa 132:13-17, The LORD’s vow to David:
1) Psa 132:13-15, This is My dwelling place, My resting place:
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place:
14 “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.
2) Psa 132:16, I will also clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy;
3) Psa 132:17, There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed;
2a) Psa 132:18, His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon Himself His crown shall flourish.” {p}
I have a theory about the identity of the third temple, the dwelling place of the LORD in the messianic age. For since the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, the LORD has dwelt within His people by His Spirit. We are His temple made without hands, joined together as living stones (1 Pet 2:5). Those who are His, are the royal priesthood and the holy nation (1 Pet 2:9). And of that priesthood, David proclaims prophetically, that they are clothed with salvation, yes, and just as equally, righteousness (B pair). Salvation and righteousness always appear together in Scripture, for they are inseparable. The new nature of those who are saved, is the root which produces the fruit of righteousness. Beloved, do not fear to walk in obedience to the LORD or according to His righteous standards, for this is the outward sign of your inward transformation. ♥
