Read Psalm 21 at Bible Gateway.
The joy of the LORD is a repeating theme in today’s psalm! Joy is the emotion evoked by well- being, success, or good fortune, or by the prospect of possessing what one desires, according to Webster’s.
The king shall rejoice – have a joyful and cheerful countenance – in the LORD’s strength!
The king shall rejoice greatly – to exult, literally, to go in a circle – to dance, to leap for joy – in the LORD’s salvation!
The king shall is made exceedingly glad – made to feel joy, mirth, gladness, pleasure – in the LORD’s presence!
It is not just for the king only – but anyone who trusts in the LORD will not be moved through the mercy of the Most High!
Where is this dour, vengeful, graceless God of the Old Testament? We have been lied to if we have been led to believe it is YHVH!
