The Hebrew paragraph:
21:1-13 {p} BecauseYHVH has done good to the king, he has confidence that He will do judgments to His enemies.
Psalm 21:1-13 Chiastic Structure:
The author of the psalm is David, who was king in Israel from 1055 to 1015 BC, forty years. But the psalm also applies to the King, Messiah Yeshua, who would be born to David, for it is Messiah Yeshua who received life from YHVH when He was raised from the dead on the third day, and has length of days for ever and ever.
The Chiastic Structure brings out the Comparison and Contrast teaching tool, which can go unseen upon just the plain reading. The comparison is between the king, on one hand, and YHVH’s enemies, on the other. The contrast is that the king loves YHVH, he trusts in Him and rejoices in Him. But YHVH’s enemies devise evil plots against Him (vs. 11). The contrast is the good that YHVH has done and will do to the king who loves Him, and the judgments YHVH will do to His enemies who hate Him. We are living in the time of devising evil plots against YHVH. But aren’t you glad that none of them will prevail? I am!
