Read Psalm 33 at Bible Gateway.
Psalm 33 has no other divisions than the normal {s} division at the end of each numbered line, and the {p} division at the end of the psalm.
Psa 33 chiastic structure:
1a) Psa 33:1-3, Rejoice in the Lord/ Praise + give thanks + sing unto Him with shouts of joy;
1b) Psa 33:4-11, By His word He created all things/ let all the earth fear the Lord (His counsel shall stand);
1a) Psa 33:4-5, His word is upright, His work faithful/ He loves righteousness, the earth is full of His lovingkindness;
1b) Psa 33:6-7, By His word He made the heavens + their host/ waters of the sea + storehouses of the deep;
central axis) Psa 33:8, Let all the earth fear the Lord + all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him;
2b) Psa 33:9, For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast;
2a) Psa 33:10-11, The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing/ His counsel stands forever;
central axis) Psa 33:12, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance;
2b) Psa 33:13-19, His eye regards the sons of men/ put not your trust in kings, armies, mighty men, strength;
1a) Psa 33:13-15, The Lord looks + beholds the sons of men/ He fashioned their hearts + considers their works;
shim1b) Psa 33:16, A king is not saved by the multitude of an army; a mighty man is not delivered by great strength;
shim2b) Psa 33:17, A horse is a vain hope for safety; neither shall it deliver any by its great strength;
2a) Psa 33:18-19, The eye of the Lord is toward them that fear Him + wait for His mercy, to deliver their soul from death;
2a) Psa 33:20-22 {p} We have waited for Him; our help + shield by His mercy/ in Him we rejoice;
1a) Psa 33:20a, Our soul has waited for the Lord;
1b) Psa 33:20b, He is our help and our shield;
central axis) Psa 33:21, “For in Him does our heart rejoice, because we have trusted in His holy name;”
2b) Psa 33:22a, Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us;
2a) Psa 33:22b {p} As we have waited for You.
This is my question: When will we stop being afraid? The nations and the peoples have only an arm of flesh, which will fail them. Let us fear instead the LORD our God, and walk in His ways!
