The Chiastic structure:
To sing praise is in Hebrew, Strong’s H2167, זמר zamar, “to sing, to make music.” The 3-letter root is zayin + mem + resh, however, the Ancient Hebrew Lexicon indicates the mem was originally a nun, being transposed over time because of their similar sounds. Thus, the ancient pictographs:
zayin ז = mattock (tool, food, cut, nourish)
nun נ ן = seed (continue, heir, son)
resh ר = head of man (head, first, top, beginning, man)
The parable being told by Hebrew Root Word is of plucking (zayin) that which the seed (nun) began (resh), i.e., to harvest fruit. The connection to making music is that in the ancient world, music was made through plucking the strings on a harp.
How interesting is the connection between singing our praise to God, with harvesting fruit. When our lips render to Him the praise due His name, we are offering a fruitful harvest back to Him!
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Heb 13:15
