Read Psalm 97 at Bible Gateway.
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. A fire goes before Him, and burns up His enemies round about.” Psa 97:2-3
I know some people have a problem with the fact that God commanded every living thing in Jericho to be put to the sword. They say it is unjust of God to command that. Listen, righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne, and the fire that goes before Him burns up His enemies round about. This means that when God judges sin and wickedness, that is an act of righteousness and justice.
Sometimes we must set our minds to be in agreement with the truth the Word of God is speaking. God’s ways are not man’s ways, and God’s thoughts are not man’s thoughts. His are higher, righter, and juster than ours. We have to accept the fact, and make God’s Word authoritative in our hearts and minds. We align ourselves with Him, we do not judge Him for not being like us.
If we do not want to be burned up, we can always follow Rahab’s example: when we encounter the LORD God, the Creator and Ruler of the universe, we can discard everything we have known before, and follow Him, and be saved by the means of the scarlet thread, the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ!
