rabbit trail one: God’s word applies to me
It is the Scriptures which are used to establish the stronghold of truth in the heart, and dismantle the stronghold of lies. One tactic of the enemy to keep people in bondage to lies is to assault their faith in the truthfulness and trustworthiness of God’s word. If that is stumbling block for you, let the next stronghold of truth you establish be “God’s word is unfailing.” It is helpful to note just what “God’s word is unfailing” means: God’s word will not fail nor is it able to fail; it is constant, unflagging, everlasting, infallible, and sure, according to Webster’s dictionary.
God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Num 23:19
My covenant I will not break; nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. Psa 89:34
Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Psa 119:89
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. Isa 40:8
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isa 55:11
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. Luk 21:33
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Joh 1:1, 14
Please remember that persistent doubt is a stronghold like any other. It cannot forever withstand the living word of God, for “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Keep telling your heart of the unchangeable faithfulness of the Lord and His word, and doubt will one day not be a problem for you anymore.
