Dave, Kiersten, and I were at the Ringling last Monday, on Kiersten’s last day in Sarasota. Some of the galleries at Ringling were empty rooms; the art, however, being in the ornate Rococo paneling, fireplaces, light fixtures, ceilings, and doors. Even curtains and wallpaper! Even the original hand carved frames on the paintings in the rest of the galleries were magnificent.
- Original, restored frames on the paintings.
- They were all insanely detailed. Someday there will be a post of just the frames.
- Sofa.
- Table.
- Silk curtains, ruched at the sides.
- The paneling details were carved wood, gilded.
- That’s me and Dave in the mirror above the firepplace.
- Carved marble details on the fireplaces.
- I had to rotate the picture to get the fireplace square. I decided to leave it a parallelogram to show more of the ornate details.
- The wallpaper caught in the mirror’s reflection.
- The sconces flanking the fireplace.
- The carved panels flanking the fireplace.
- The grandest fireplace yet – all carved marble.
- The doorway leading to the Art Museum lobby.
I again apologize for the photo quality on some. Apparently there is a memory issue with my phone camera, but I don’t know how to fix it yet. Shoot me an email at christinemm@protonmail.com if anyone knows. Next – paintings.
