I write down the Scriptures I have collected, that proclaim the positive opposite over the person or circumstance I am praying for, each one on its own 3×5 index card. I keep them in a 3×5 file box, with different colored index cards for the different prayer projects going on at any time. I pray through the Scriptures in the prayer box regularly. One thing I like about 3×5 index cards for Scriptures: they can be made into new groupings when a new situation arises or things change with the person you are praying for; new cards can be easily added if the Lord reveals new insight or prayer strategies; and you can slip them in your wallet, purse, or pocket when you go to work or about your day.

When I have finished praying through my cards, I use these succession of Scriptures to close the prayer:

If the person you are praying for is listening to the lies of the enemy rather than the truth of God’s word:

Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. Psa 31:18

The mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped. Psa 63:11

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it;” whenever you turn to the right hand, or whenever you turn to the left. Isa 30:21

But if you do not know what weapon or snare the enemy is using in the situation you are praying for:

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord. Isa 54:17

Having disarmed principalities and powers, Yeshua made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in the cross. Col 2:15

The Greek for “public spectacle,” is the same sort of thing that used to be done in the old days, when a thief would be placed in stocks out on the main thoroughfare, and they suffered the ridicule, jeers, and taunting of anyone passing by.

As the agents who actually do the work you are praying for, against principalities and powers in the heavenly places, I pray for angels to be empowered on the behalf of the person or situation I am praying for:

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isa 55:11

Bless the LORD, you His angels, mighty in strength, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word! Psa 103:20

It is the angels who will perform the word you have prayed over your friend or situation. I always pray my Scriptures outloud also, since they obey the voice of His word.

Are not angels all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation? Heb 1:14

And I conclude with proper praise and glory to God:

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Eph 3:20-21
