This past week I noted that an elementary school in Wisconsin was going to sing something called Cold in the Night instead of Silent Night at their “Holiday” program. The school has since reversed itself, thanks to public and legal pressure. The children will be allowed to sing the world’s best known Christmas carol.
But the war on Christmas still rages in other quarters. Officials with public housing have banned residents from singing Christmas carols (Broken link, active December 15, 2005) or decorating their doors with religious themes this year in at least two different states. World Net Daily asserts it is not just Christmas that is under attack, but Christianity. Really, it is Jesus Christ: He is the root of both Christmas and Christianity.
Mike Adams suggests the appropriate response, to my mind.

What a treat to find your blog through the Homeschool Blog Awards!
Isn’t it interesting that so many Cristians have forgotten that the whole celebration of Christmas at this time of year was a declaration of war and of victory over the pagan gods whose dedicated feasts were held at this time? I am glad to see that so many of us are unwilling to surrender the territory taken.
I have a written about the same subject on Mother-Lode http://mother-lode.blogspot.com/2005/11/gods-historical-revisionism.html and on my column at American Chronicler “Targeting Holiday Disaster”

congrats on your nomination. I nominated you. I love your blog and read it as often as I get the chance. I didn’t nominate you for all the categories you are in so obviously you have a few other fans.

Since I don’t get many comments (I always wonder if that is a good or a bad thing), I wasn’t sure the blog was even being read by very many people! It is nice to know there are fans! 🙂
