I discovered a water lily pond on my walk today.
- The path.
- Spanish moss in a live oak tree.
- The retention pond.
- Water lilies.
- All the rest of the pictures: practicing with my camera.
- I hate that there’s a beer can in the water! Why do people use the ground for a trash can? One of my pet peeves!
- American white lotus (common water lily).
- Elderberry flowers.
- Elderberries grow wild in Florida.
I turned a bend, a voila! Beautiful water lily pond right there! So I never go out without my camera, and I took a ton of photos. I also discovered the hard way, that fire ants live around the water lily pond. Never having seen them before, I did not recognize them. Barely 1/16th of an inch long, they look completely harmless … until you accidentally step on their mound, that is, while you are traipsing through the field in sandals in order to get closer shots of water lilies. Who would think that those teeny itty bitty ants would carry such a walloping venom in their bite! Way worse than mosquito bites or bee stings! But we have something to put on them, they are healing, and now I am VERY careful to watch where I am going when I am out and about!
