I am not sure about anyone else but that Convergence Conference changed my life. First of all, all three of the guest speakers were wild crazy men. I mean, when the first guest speaker got up to speak, I thought to myself, this guy isn’t doing church as normal. His name was Kevin Dedmon and he is the author of The Ultimate Treasure Hunt: A Guide to Supernatural Evangelism through Supernatural Encounters. So if anyone wants to find out what a treasure hunt is, Kevin Dedmon appears on the documentary The Finger of God.
Then the next speaker was Robin MacMillian, and his son, John Mark MacMillian, wrote the song How He Loves Us that is so popular right now. (Here is a video of Kim Walker singing How He Loves Us.) He was another wild man, but his messages brought healing and deliverance to those listening!
The final speaker was David Hogan (of the out of state guest speakers. Kathy and Diane and Pastor Jonathan also taught.) He was the wildest of all, and here is a video of one of his messages. He taught three times, and all three times his message was completely different.
You know, the fact that these three did not come across fitting our stereotype of respectable church leader, you know, sober and dignified, put me off from them at first. Pastor Jonathan even mentioned in his message that he struggled too (he invited them! Pastor Jonathan is from good Southern Baptist roots, so respectable and dignified is important to him!)
But you know what? The Pharisees didn’t think Jesus was respectable and dignified half the time! I mean, if this man were really a prophet, He wouldn’t let this woman who was a sinner cry all over Him and make a scene, right? But the woman went away restored in faith as a daughter of God! So I had to ask myself, what is more important to me? For crying out loud, He is returning, and so let’s snatch people from the jaws of Hell and not be so hung up on what it looks like!
So that is how the Lord challenged me to get a little wild and crazy myself. You know, that can be hard for a good Lutheran girl, LOL. But now, every time I leave my house, I ask the Lord, let me be sensitive to your Spirit and be bold to pray for people who need to be loved by You Lord!!
And I have already stepped across the chicken line once, LOL. I don’t know the outcome of that, but I know I was tingling from the top of my head to the soles of my feet as I was praying, and that is usually a good sign with me that it was a God idea. I will keep you posted.
